Description
After the merger of Zeiss Ikon and Voigtlander in 1966, they released the Icarex 35, the first model of their Icarex series of 35mm SLRs.
Although it was a basic camera without an exposure meter, it was made with a focal-plane shutter with speeds up to 1/1000, a special bayonet mount and interchangeable viewfinder. Photographers had the option of using a mid-level viewfinder, a pentaprism, or a measured pentaprism called Icarex 35 CS. The Icarex line was discontinued in 1971 and was replaced by the Zeiss Ikon SL706, which was based on the Icarex body.
