Description

The Dutch top designer Marcel Wanders designed this ceramic bowl for Randstad. Inspired by the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Execution Tichelaar Makkum. The series consists of three variants: Passion, Emotion and Triumph. This is the Triumph scale.
Diameter of the bowl is 32 cm x 10 cm high.

Marcel Wanders (Marcel Theodorus Leonardus Gijsbertus, Boxtel, 2 July 1963) is a Dutch industrial designer. He is co-founder and art director of the design label Moooi (formerly Wanders Wonders) in Breda. Wanders also has his own design studio, where he works for several international furniture brands.

Wanders followed courses in Eindhoven, Arnhem, Maastricht and Hasselt and eventually graduated cum laude from the art academy in Arnhem. In 1994 Wanders worked with Dinie Besems on the project “Secret Covenant – Oysters & Boar”. His breakthrough came in 1996 with his Knotted Chair, a chair made of reinforced rope that he designed (in collaboration with Delft University of Technology) for Droog Design. This design is part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York. He also won the public prize of the Rotterdam Design Prize in 1997 with the chair.

In 2002 Wanders was included in a list of 50 Stars of Europe by the American magazine Businessweek. In 2005 he edited the Design Yearbook. He won an award in 2005 for the Carbon chair co-designed by Wanders in the Elle Decoration International Design Awards, and the following year he won Designer of the Year in the Elle Decoration International Design Awards.

He designed the 440-page and 35-kilo book RIJKS, Masters of the Golden Age, which contains a large collection of special photos of the more than 60 paintings from the Hall of Fame of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, published as a Limited Edition, as a unique Art Edition and as a smaller and lighter coffee table book.

Wanders designed the Jardin d'Eden cutlery, a wall clock and a chair for the French company Christofle.
