Carved and polychromed figurehead (ship figurehead bust) of probably Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, (there is also a resemblance Andrew Jackson, of which there are also figureheads). It is a very beautiful and rare figurehead in very excellent condition. The statue is completely made of wood (very heavy) and has a height of 96 cm.

As we have been able to find out, this figurehead has always been inside an interior for the last 60 years, which is why the excellent condition of this beautiful piece.

Oliver Hazard Perry (August 23, 1785 – August 23, 1819) was an American naval commander, born in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. The best-known and most prominent member of the Perry family, he was the son of Sarah Wallace Alexander and the Captain of the United States Navy, Christopher Raymond Perry, and the older brother of Commodore Matthew C. Perry.
