Corneille took lessons at the Amsterdam Academy, but was mainly self-taught.

Biography
Guillaume Cornelis Beverloo, better known as Corneille, was born in Liège to Dutch parents. He was one of the founders and also one of the main representatives of the Cobra movement. Throughout his career, Corneille was extremely productive, resulting in an enormous amount of paintings, sculptures and graphic work. In the beginning Corneille worked in an abstract manner, but from about 1960 his style developed in more figurative directions. Well-known motifs in his work are birds, women and flowers.
