Practical: maintenance, hanging & insurance

A work of art deserves the best care, both to maintain its value and for daily enjoyment. With a few simple measures, you can protect your investment and enjoy your collection for longer.

1. Do not hang art in direct sunlight or damp areas

Light and moisture are art's greatest enemies. Direct sunlight can fade colors and damage materials. Damp spaces increase the risk of mold, discoloration, or warping. Therefore, choose a location with a stable temperature and humidity, away from windows and radiators.

2. Use acid-free framing material

Proper framing protects your artwork from aging and damage. Always use an acid-free mount and backing to prevent discoloration and deterioration. A professional framer can advise you on the best materials and hanging systems for your artwork.

3. Consider insurance for valuable works

Higher-value art deserves extra protection. Specialized art insurance covers damage, theft, and loss – including during transport or temporary exhibitions. Inquire with your insurer about the options and terms and conditions for art insurance.
