Original metal locker door with stencil art, 27 x 29 cm

An extremely rare street art object: an original metal locker door with a stencil of the so-called Night Box Rat, a motif attributed to Banksy that first surfaced around 1998. This version shows the rat with butterflies, placed beneath the sign “ACHTUNG” and the number 35 — a combination that gives the work a strongly symbolic character.

The original red paint and traces of rust have been preserved, enhancing the urban feel and authenticity of this object. The door is fitted with a simple wire hanger on the back and can be displayed as a piece of art on the wall.

Although no official certification exists, this work is considered a rare example of early Banksy-related street art, with clear visual similarities to his well-known rat motifs.

Description

Banksy is the pseudonym of an anonymous British artist and activist who became known worldwide for his powerful, often political street art. His work first appeared on the walls of Bristol and London in the 1990s and grew into an international phenomenon.

Banksy's style is characterized by the stencil technique (stencil art), satirical imagery and sharp social criticism. Themes such as war, capitalism, the environment, migration, and surveillance regularly recur in his work, often in unexpected locations. His best-known motifs include rats, soldiers, children with balloons, monkeys and cameras.

Despite (or because of) his anonymity, Banksy has become one of the most influential artists of his time. His works are displayed on the streets, in museums, and at major auctions—resulting in record prices.

Banksy's art constantly moves between protest and poetry, and his rats – like The Night Box Rat – remain one of his most recognizable symbols of resistance, survival and irony.
