Description
Scarlet Levy Artifex (1975) began her artistic career with training as a goldsmith in Antwerp, where her fascination with material, form, and craft originated. From that technical foundation, she developed monumental metal sculptures in which strength, precision, and physical control were central.
A severe traffic accident on New Year's Eve 2007 drastically changed her life. Due to double shoulder fractures and multiple surgeries, creating heavy metal sculptures became physically impossible. Instead of giving up her artistic practice, she found a new path in painting.
Today, Scarlet Levy Artifex translates the same intensity and layering onto the canvas. Her paintings emerge from matter, emotion, and transformation. Color, texture, and movement combine to form powerful compositions that invite the viewer to reflect on themes such as resilience, change, and the ongoing cycle of creation and renewal. Her unique Pre-realism-style makes every work a personal and deeply felt visual experience.
