Description
The winter oaks of the Klaverberg, with their impressive trunk circumferences of up to 17 metres, form the heart of The Struggler-series. For Quinten Torp, these trees are a metaphor for the power and beauty of the human and natural struggle for survival. During the winter of 2021, Torp cycled to the Klaverberg to make charcoal sketches and acrylic studies on site, which serve as the basis for his further paintings and graphic work.
Of The Struggler Quinten Torp tells a story of hope and resilience, made even more relevant worldwide by recent events.
