Description
Sculptures in hammered copper belong to a tradition in which metal plates are built up into a sculpture by means of hammering, shaping, and welding. Particularly in the second half of the 20th century, many European sculptors experimented with this technique. By combining individual copper plates and leaving the weld seams visible, a powerful, expressive structure is created in which both the material and the craftsmanship remain clearly present.
The warm surface of copper develops a natural patina over time, giving each work its own character.
